Operational since mid October 2011 > What agencies are responsible for installing, managing, operating, and maintaining the station? Installation: West Virginia Division of Highways, Managing and maintaining: Rahall Transportation Institute, Operations: National Astronomy Radio Observatory > What is the expected operational lifetime of the station? How secure is the funding? 20 years. Funded by the State of West Virginia. > Will the station replace an existing IGS station? If so, what is the scheduled date of decommissioning? Does the new station offer more capability than the old one? Not a replacement. > Does/will the station meet all of the strictly required IGS site guidelines (http://igscb.jpl.nasa.gov/network/guidelines/guidelines.html)? Yes > What is the data delivery schedule? Flexible/programable. Yes. > Are there currently operating IGS stations within 1000km? Approximately how many? Yes, several in the DC area run by the USNO. > Does this site offer any capabilities the others do not? This is in the National radio quiet zone, protected from radio interference or malicious GPS signal jamming as might be found in a major metropolitan area. There are two radio telescopes on the site whose positions have been determined very accurately by VLBI; we hope to tie the GPS into their positions with a ground survey. > What IGS product or project will this site benefit, based on its location, instrumentation, and latency? GPS + GLONASS. > Is this station intended to tie a national datum to the ITRF? WVGB is part of West Virginia Real Time Network, will be submitted to NGS for consideration in the national CORS. > Is there a web page associated with this site (please specify)? If not, please include a site photo or two with this application. Yes. http://wv.cors.us. Similar to WVAT, WVNR, WVCV - see www.ngs.noaa.gov > Is data available on a public server (please specify)?
