Subject: SOPAC ftp outage #2 (planned)

To the GPS community,

SOPAC's public ftp service (ftp://lox.ucsd.edu) will be entirely
unavailable from approximately

 	2001/201/13:00 UTC until 2001/201/16:00 UTC

 	(6:00am PST Sat 07/18/2001 through 9:00pm PST Sat 07/18/2001).

In an attempt to avoid future (unplanned) electrical outages and "rolling
blackouts" in the Southern California region SOPAC is upgrading its UPS
system on it's two main ftp archive (and database) machines.  This outage
should not affect our HTTP server (http://sopac.ucsd.edu) apart from some
pages generated from our DBMS, which _will_ also be down during this time.

SOPAC sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause.
