Dear Wolfgang, all,

It looks as though the meeting next October will be a very good one, an excellent venue to focus on these critical issues. A comment -- it would seem appropriate to include some reference to GGOS in the call for abstracts. The importance of reference frames in all that we can hope to accomplish with the geodetic observation system should not be overlooked -- the reference frame is (obviously) the fundamental component of GGOS.

Looking forward to a very interesting meeting,

kind regards - Ruth

We would like to draw your attention to the upcoming

------------------------------------------------------
  IAG Symposium Geodetic Reference Frames (GRF2006)
        Munich, October, 09-14, 2006.

    URL:  http://iag.dgfi.badw.de/?grf2006
------------------------------------------------------

The symposium focuses on realization and maintenance of
global and regional reference frames including following
topics:
- Development and coordination of terrestrial and space
  geodetic observation techniques;
- Analysis and processing methods for combined parameter
  estimation;
- Definition, establishment, maintenance and integration
  of regional reference frames;
- Consistent determination of terrestrial and celestial
  reference frames and Earth orientation parameters.
Additional issues are the international collaborations
- for the definition and deployment of stations and networks
  of observatories,
- with scientific organizations, institutions, agencies and
  IAG Services.

IAG Commission 1 invites all experts to attend and to
contribute by oral or poster presentations. Call for papers
(see http://iag.dgfi.badw.de/?abstract-submission and
registration (http://iag.dgfi.badw.de/?registration ) is open.

                  Deadline
   for abstracts and early-bird registration is
                  July  15

Note, the early bird registration fees are really low!
Also note, the GRF2006 symposium will be held in parallel
with the XXIII FIG Congress and the German trade INTERGEO.
Munich will have thousands of guests. Therefore it is strongly
recommended to book rooms as early as possible. For hotel
reservation see http://iag.dgfi.badw.de/?accommodation .

We look forward to your participation at GRF2006.
