IGS Station Mail 28 Aug 11:03:48 PDT 2008 Message Number 2457
******************************************************************************
Author: Pierre Uhrich (LNE-SYRTE, Observatoire de Paris)
Dear Colleagues,
There was today a severe unexpected cut of electrical power in
Observatoire de Paris (OP), which affected among other equipment both
OPMT station equipment and external clock.
Electric civil work was planned to take place today in some parts of OP
campus. But this was not supposed to affect in any ways LNE-SYRTE Time
Metrology equipment, which includes the OPMT IGS station. Unexpectedly,
the whole campus was powered off without warning at 10:22 UTC today
August 28.
As a result, OPMT equipment, the external H-Maser clock, and data
transfer were all off for about half an hour. Since the restart, we are
trying to analyze the damages on all our equipment, and especially
either on the GPS receiver or on the H-Maser used as external clock for
the OPMT station. But the situation remains unclear at the time of the
writing of this message.
Therefore, there will be not only missing data but also most probably
corrupted data in the OPMT files collected today. We advise people using
OPMT data to avoid doing so starting today until further notice.
An update will be sent as soon as possible.
Best regards.
P. Uhrich
