TITLE: EUREF : The Regional Densification of the IGS in Europe AUTHOR: Carine Bruyninx Royal Observatory of Belgium C.Bruyninx@oma.be The EUREF subcommission which is responsible for the maintenance of the ETRS89 took in 1995 the initiative to start coordinating the activities related to existing local permanent GPS networks in Europe and created the EUREF Network. Part of this coordination task includes the creation of the structure to make tracking data and auxiliary data, as well as products of various kinds, publicly available. For the EUREF Network to develop in a full service, its management tasks have been recently reorganized. This will allow to continue managing efficiently the expanding GPS tracking network and the array of related multi-disciplinary projects. Presently, the EUREF network consists of about 100 permanent tracking stations. Half of these stations are also belonging to the IGS network and consequently have their auxiliary information also available at the global level. Since EUREF is delivering, as RNAAC, regional network solutions to the IGS, a full compliance of standards between the IGS and EUREF network is primordial.
