UNAVCO is funded by NASA to provide support to JPL and IGS in monitoring, maintaining, upgrading, as well as installing new GGN sites around the world. UNAVCO is currently monitoring 56 GGN and SENH sites. Of these, 12 sites support the Low Earth Orbit (LEO) missions. UNAVCO has direct responsibility for ensuring GPS receiver data offload operations and data communications at 47 sites, including data flow to JPL and UNAVCO archives. UNAVCO is also the designated back-up site for the JPL GGN network and is currently capable of providing data back-up and distribution support for 30 GGN/IGS sites.
